Abstract

561,283. Pipe joints. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO., Ltd., FISHER,- R. J., and BROCK,W.H.J. Nov. 26,1.942,No. 16813. , [Class 99 (i)] In a hose end fitting of the kind in which the hose end is gripped between a sleeve 21 and a nipple 20 having coupling means such as a nut 24, the sleeve has an internal flange 29 adapted to pass over the nipple from its inner end and to be engaged by a stop formed or placed on the nipple after the sleeve has been mounted thereon. The stop may comprise a rigid washer 31 able to pass over a tapered shoulder 27 on the nipple and a split spring ring 32 which rides over the shoulder and contracts into a position behind it. The stop may take the form of a spring clip of triangular or other polygonal shape whose sides engage a groove in the nipple or of a dished washer having internal spring fingers which ride over the shoulder and engage a groove. In another form, a split ring 40, Fig. 6, of channel section embraces the flange 29 and engages the groove 36. In other forms, a rigid washer is screwed on to the nipple or the nipple is expanded behind it or it is deformed by a punch to grip the nipple.
