[Class 103 (i)] In an internal-expanding brake the clearance between the shoe C and the oper. ating - cam H produced by automatic adjustment of the brake by the adjuster K is automatically taken up by sliding wedges E. F. con nected together by a spring 9 tending tc draw them together The block E is fixed to the shoe C. The adjuster K is con nected to the shoe C by a pin 0 having sufficient clearnace in a member P mounted on the shoe to allow normal operation of the brake. When wear occurs a spring plunger M is moved over a tooth on the ratchet L, fixed to the back plate and the return movement of the shoe is correspondingly shortened. A flat Q prevents further adjustment when the liners are worn out.
