Cams and tappets.-The enlarged end of a tappet rod or t'he like carries a liner of bronze or other bearing metal preferably in the form of a disc 4 secured in a recess 1 by bending down a lip 6 and grinding flat. The disc 4 is preferably bevelled on both front and back edges. The thickness of the enlarged end allows of further machining when the disc requires renewal.
