Abstract
359,674. Compensating for wear in brakes. SOC. FRANCAISE DES FREINS HYDRAULIQUES LOCKHEED, 27, Rue Jules Verne, St-Ouen, Seine, France. Oct. 4, 1930, No. 29760. Convention date, Dec. 13, 1929. [Class 103 (i).] In a regulating-device for motor vehicle &c. brakes of the type in which pivotal stops regulate the " off " position of the brake shoes and are automatically adjusted by them, each brake shoe 1 carries a projection or projections for engaging its stop 10 which is keyed on a pin 11 frictionally held by a spring 12, Fig. 2, so that the stop is manually adjustable from the exterior of the brake dum 5 by turning the head of the pin 11. In one construction the stop 10 is arranged between two projections 8, 14, Fig. 1, on the shoe 1 so that the clearance d equals the normal clearance of the shoe. If this clearance is exceeded the projection 14 rotates the stop when the brake is applied, and on release of the brake the projection 8 abuts the edge 9 of the stop which does not move as the return spring 7 is much weaker than the' spring 12. In a second construction the shoe carries a single projection 17, Fig. 3, moving in a groove 16 in the stop 10 and against the action of the return spring 7. In a modification, the return spring is carried by the stop itself and bears directly on the projection.
