455,718. Internal expanding brakes. DIMOND, L. H., The Haven, Beryl Grove, Knowle, Bristol. May 16, 1935, No. 14426. [Class 103 (i)] In an internal expanding brake of the kind comprising three brake shoes, two of which are directly actuated by a cam device and the third actuated indirectly through the two directly actuated shoes, the third shoe is guided so as to be movable in a radial. direction without pivotal movement. The shoes 3 actuated by the cam 2 are pivoted at 5 to the third shoe 4 which is provided with radial guides 14 engaging a guide block 13 secured to the back plate 1. The part 17 of the web of the shoe 4 slides in a slot in the block 13. The block is radially adjustable and for this purpose has a part 13<1> projecting into a slot in the boss 15 on the plate 1. Adjustment is effected by the bolt 20 attached to a plate through which passes a pin 20<11> on the block 13 which is held by a nut 21. Each pivot pin 5 has a flanged head recessed into the end of the shoe to which it is secured by a screw 9. The cam lever may have a series of apertures for attachment of the operating connection according to the wear of the shoes.
