647,018. Casting - machines ; clamping moulds. PLASCO, Ltd. March 3, 1948, No. 6725. Convention date, Dec. 5, 1947. [Class 83 (i)] A pair of discs of a pressure casting-machine after closing are each clamped by a plunger movable in the same direction as the die and into engagement with a slide having a transverse movement in contact with the die, the two plungers being moved to clamp the dies by pneumatic pistons acting in opposition. The slide 1011 of each die is operated by the usual mechanism, not shown, through a slide 201, spring 21<SP>1</SP> and a slide 17<SP>1</SP>, loose in its guide 151, by reason of inclined projection and groove 18. The slide 17<SP>1</SP> has teeth 24<SP>1</SP> adapted to be engaged by teeth 26<SP>1</SP> of a slide 25<SP>1</SP> when air is admitted to a cylinder 28 by a pipe 35 which is effected automatically as the die is closed. In a modification, the slide 251 is actuated directly by the piston 30<SP>1</SP> instead of through the lever 42.
