Abstract

1,030,433. Casting-machines. G. TRIULZI, [trading as OFFICINE AMBROGIA TRIULZI S.A.S. DI TRIULZI]. Feb. 11, 1963 [Feb.12, 1962], No. 5487/63. Heading B3F. [Also in Division B5] In a die-casting machine comprising a fixed plate 5 and a movable plate 6, which carry mould halves 3<SP>1</SP> and 3, the movable plate 6 is moved to an almost closed position, Fig. 2 (not shown), by a piston-and-cylinder arrangement 7, 8, 9, seated in a stationary plate 1. The final closing and clamping pressure is provided by a pair of sprung toggle mechanisms 16, 17 which are actuated by levers 14 attached to the pistonrod 12, 13 of a piston-and-cylinder arrangement 10-13, carried upon the movable plate 6, the piston-rod 12-13 sliding around rod 9. For the closure, an upward movement of piston 11 causes the levers 16 to pivot about hinges 18 and the levers 17 to move out so that shoes 19 at their ends abut shoulders 26 of the fixed plate 1, thus forcing the plates 6 and 5 closed when the members 16 and 17 are brought into alignment, Fig. 4 (not shown). The movable plate 6 may be actuated by a plurality of piston- and-cylinder mechanisms and the machine may be disposed horizontally. All the pistons may be hydraulically or pneumatically operated.
