Abstract

431,114. Liquid - fuel injectors. JENSEN, A. C., 15, Nitivej, Frederiksberg, Copenhagen. Dec. 13, 1934, No. 35751. [Class 7 (iii)] Liquid fuel is supplied by a pump through a passage 20, Fig. 1, to a chamber 22 beneath a piston 21, which it raises, compressing springs 14, 6 until the former lifts the valve spindle 3 to open the injection orifices 4. As the pump pressure falls the springs 14, 6 expand, depressing the piston 21 and forcing the fuel out of the chamber 22 through passages 27 in the spindle 3. The tension of the spring 14 is regulated by adjusting a nut 25 on a rod 12 bearing on the spindle 3, and the upward movement of the valve is limited by a stop 9. The spring 14 bears against a stationary abutment 8 which surrounds the stop 9 and is connected to a ring 35 having projections 36, which may be slid up and down a screw surface 41 to adjust the tension of the spring by rotating a ring 45 carrying a scale. Fuel leakage is led away through a pipe 17, and a spring-pressed safety valve 24, which also acts as an air escape valve, is provided in the housing 1. In a modified construction, Fig. 4, the stop 9 is formed integral with the abutment 8, and the fuel is led through helical passages 30 to the chamber 22, and through helical passages 23 in the spindle 3 to the orifices 4.
