Check valves. - A n auxiliary air valve for internal-combustion engines, which may be fitted on the induction pipe, comprises a lift valve H with hollow stem E. The valve head works in a circular casing and has flats on its periphery to provide a passage when the valve is off its seat. 650 The air enters the hollow stem through a gauze diaphragm 0, and passes through slots in the stem into the chamber M behind the valve. The valve is held to its seat by a spring N bearing against the gauze diaphragm and a pin secured to the casing. The lift of the valve is controlled by a cam G.
