419,766. Pile fabrics. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP GEBRS. VAN DEN BERGH'S KONINKLIJKE INDUSTRIEEN HANDELMAATSCHAPPIJ, Oss, Holland. July 19, 1933, No. 20422. Convention date, Aug. 20, 1932. [Class 142 (iv).] In the manufacture of double pile fabrics in a loom employing pile wires m, Fig. 2, and two simultaneously picked shuttles s<1>, s<2>, the binding of the pile warps at the selvedges is made differently from that of the remainder of the fabric in order to preclude the formation of loops by wefts such as i at those parts of the selvedge where pile warps, such as b, pass to the upper or lower fabric. The weave repeat for the selvedge pile warps may be smaller or greater than that of the fabric itself or the pile warps may be split adjacent the selvedge and used for binding in opposite directions. Fig. 4 shows a double pile fabric having a three-weft pile binding in the body of the fabric and a four-weft pile weave in the selvedges.
