Abstract
1,190,628. Weaving pile fabric ribbons. H. KUNY. 11 May, 1967 [12 May, 1966], No. 21850/67. Heading D1K., Velvet ribbons are woven face-to-face in a four-shuttle smallwove, loom. The ground fabric of each ribbon consists of two plies (e.g. 53, 54) joined only at the edges by means of a binder warp thread 41; .the inner ply contains fewer warp threads 33, 34 than the outer ply and its weft picks f (Fig. 3) are tensioned more than the picks e of the outer ply so that, on leaving the loom, the edges of the outer ply roll inwards as indicated by the binder warp threads 41 on Fig. 3, which were originally at the extreme edges of the ribbon. Alternatively, instead of using binder threads 41, the ground warp 'threads 31-34 may be combined into a single shed in the pile less zones to produce single-ply -margins on the ribbons.
