[Class 142 (iv)] A woven fabric comprising two or more layers interlocked one with the other to include spaces in which a plurality of warps and wefts are free in the separate layers, has one layer displaceable slightly relative to the other or others and the outer layer relatively transparent. In one form the outer layer has less wefts and/or warps 1, 2 than the other layer, and the layers are interconnected by spaced wefts or warps 5. Alternatively the wefts and/or warps of the outer layers may be of smaller count than the wefts or warps of the other layer. Instead of interconnecting the layers by weft.or warp threads, the layers may be joined at spaced intervals by rows of stitching. The threads in one layer may be of higher twist or gloss than in the other layer or layers, or may be of different material, e.g. the outer layer may be of silk or artificial silk and the back layer may be of cotton or wool. The patterning of the layers may be obtained by weaving or by printing or dyeing.
