Abstract
521,655. Double - faced carpet fabrics. KJAERBY, J. A. Nov. 24, 1938, Nos. 34177 and 34178. Convention dates, Nov. 24, 1937, and Dec. 8, 1937. [Class 142 (iv)] A boucle-like carpet has a central stuffer warp 1 and design wefts 4, 5 which float mainly on the two faces of the fabric and are only bound down by pairs of binder warps 2, 3 the threads 2 binding in the upper and the threads the lower design wefts and being themselves bound in by pairs of binder wefts 6, 7 disposed on the upper and lower faces of the fabric. Thinbinder warp and weft yarns and thick design wefts which may be of wool are used, the latter being tied down so as to form quadrangular bunches. Patterns are formed by changing the design wefts from the top to the bottom of the fabric in known manner. As shown the fabric may have extra warp threads 8, 9 on its underside. The warp and weft threads may be interchanged. Instead of two shaft, three or four shaft binding may be used.
