Abstract

501,204. Multi-ply fabrics. HINDLE, T., and LORD, S. Aug. 23, 1937, No. 23028. [Class 142 (iv)] Dryer-felts for paper machines have warp and weft threads a, b, Fig. 1, 1a to 12a, 1b to 3b, 5b to 10b, and 12b to 14b, Figs. 2 and 3, interwoven in groups of 3 or more threads whereby holes X are formed at the intersecting points of the groups rendering the felt porous and suitable for use whether or not ventilating air is used. The plies are bound together by binder wefts 4b, 11b, which lie between the two surfaces. Modifications are described wherein two and three binder wefts are used for each group of three face and three bottom wefts. An example in which warp and weft of cotton count sevens, five fold yarn is used is described. Vegetable, animal, mineral or artificial silk threads may be used. Specification 322,631, [Class 142 (iv)], is referred to.
