Abstract

322,631. Hindle, T. Nov. 23, 1928. Multiple fabrics.-A multiple layer felt for paper machines is woven with stripes &c. of compact dense fabric alternating with stripes' &c. of open porous character to facilitate escape of moisture, the warp threads a being arranged in alternate dense and loose groups by grouping them irregularly in the reed. Thus every third reed space may be left free or have less warp threads than the other spaces. In a modification, the warp threads of only the inner layers are grouped into dense and porous strips, the surface layers of warp threads' being uniformly spaced across the width of the fabric.
