Abstract
352,643. Chenille pile carpets. KOCH, L., I, Forststrasse, Oelsnitz, Vogtland, Germany. May 20, 1930, No. 15461. [Class 142 (iv).] The chenille preparatory cloth is woven with stuffing warps 2 which are bound to the pile wefts 1 by single crossing warp threads 3, and at distances x, y therefrom the wefts are bound to crossed warp threads 6 by binding warp threads 4, 5, so that when the cloth is cut to form chenille stock or strips, the warp threads 3 causes adjacent tufts to be bent alternately inwards and outwards as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, thus causing the tufts to intermingle and form a stripeless surface. The strips are used as wefts alternately with pairs of stiffening wefts 8 bound by double ground warp threads 7, as described in Specification 307,764, [Class 142 (iv), Woven fabrics &c.]. The fabric has a connected design at the back and resembles Oriental carpets.
