Abstract

579,465. Ribbed woven fabrics. BANYAI, Ltd., M., and BANYAI, M. March 16, 1944, No. 4905. [Class 142 (iv)] A repp fabric is produced by cross-weaving covering warps on to standing warps, each covering warp being associated with one standing warp, and closely beating-up the weft to bind the covering warps on one side only so that they form well-defined ribs on at least one face of the fabric. The covering warps bare raised and crossed over the standing warps a to form loops b<1>, b<2>. The loops are bound by the weft c which does not cross the surface of the standing warps. Fabrics may be produced which are ribbed on one side only or have ribs running warpways on one side and weftways on the other. A design may be worked with the covering warp by using a Jacquard, or the covering warp may be colour printed.
