Abstract

483,595. Woven fabrics. CLUTSOM, C. Feb. 10, 1937, No. 3971. [Class 142 (iv)] A plain or double faced woven fabric incorporating elastic threads 1 has at one or both edges a frilled portion 2 that is strengthened at the selvedge 3 by interknitting the looped weft threads with one another or with one or more-additional threads. Fig. 3 shows a double-faced fabric wherein the front wefts 15 are drawn through the rear wefts 13a before being interknitted. The frilled portion is produced by increasing the feed or tension of some of the warp threads. According to the Provisional Specification the selvedge may be produced with the aid of a latch-needle as described in Specification 478,529.
