Abstract

204,897. Balay, C. Oct. 3, 1922. Double and multiple fabrics; paper fabrics; materials, special, fabrics containing; yarns specially treated, fabrics with; figured fabrics; ornamental non-metallic strips, fabrics with.- The fabric comprises flat strips of strong paper 1 forming a warp, intermediate warp threads 2 of cotton &c., and binding weft threads, forming a support whereon figured effects are produced by warp floats 5, 6 covering the paper strips on one or both sides, or by weft floats 4, or both. Warp floats may comprise slivers of artificial silk superposed on the paper strips. The weft floats may comprise slivers 4 of cotton, artificial silk or artificial silkwaste. Combinations of artificial silk, silk and cotton &c. may be used with coloured, glace, glossy, or matte paper. Glycerined papers may be used, or the fabric may be made supple by dipping in known softening baths. A jacquard may be used to produce ornamental effects. The weft floats themselves may act as binding threads.
