Abstract
540,037. Shuttleless looms; shedding-motions. BADDELEY, C. H. Dec. 3, 1940, No. 17224. [Classes 142 (i) and 142 (ii)] In textile looms of the type set forth in Specifications 363,219 and 424,966 the selvedge-forming mechanism comprises a tubular member A provided with a flange E and means to carry bobbins or the like D holding supplementary warp threads S, the member A being partly rotated at each beat-up of the slay L by ratchet and pawl mechanism connected to the slay so that at each beat-up one or more of the supplementary warp threads are positioned above, and one or more below, the usual warp thread to provide a shed through which the weft carrier and weft may pass, the next beat-up returning the shed of the supplementary warp threads and binding in the weft thread. The ratchet wheel J is carried by a shaft 4 carrying a bevel wheel G geared to a bevel wheel F fixed to the tubular member A and the supplementary warps pass through holes O into the tube then out again through holes P and then through holes R in the flange E.
