Abstract
276,666. SÚry, C. Aug. 24, 1926, [Convention date]. Addition to 269,916. Selvages, forming; circular looms.-In the circular loom described in the parent Specification, wherein warp threads are omitted from one sector, selvages are formed on the fabric as shown in Fig. 1 by cutting the weft threads at the part free from warp threads, and then beating the cut threads into the shed and weaving them with the adjacent warp threads. When producing the selvage shown, the warp threads in the region of the selvages, that is the " adjacent " warp threads referred to, are controlled by heddle frames actuated by a cam additional to and separate from that for the other heddle frames, so that the warp threads near the selvages move twice as quickly as the other warp threads. After a shuttle has laid the weft 35 in the space free from warp threads, vertical tappets 102, 103 on arms 100, 101 on the vertical shaft 32 used for driving the shuttles engage and actuate cam levers 106, 107 on spring-controlled axles 104, 105 carrying beating combs 108, 109 at their lower ends. These combs are thus turned inwards as shown in Fig. 2 and push the weft on to a knife 112 whereby it is cut, the cut ends 35<a> following the movements of the combs and being beaten behind plates 113 whereby they are retained in position. The cam for actuating the healds for the warp threads near the selvages is described. In a modification, the weft thread ends are woven with the following weft threads.
