Abstract

407,364. Pile-fabric looms. CRABTREE, D., Hope Works, Dick Lane, Laisterdyke, Bradford, Yorkshire. Aug. 16, 1932, No. 22922. [Class 142 (ii).] Needles 5 or tubes supplied with pile warps x are mounted on a cross-bar 11 oscillated and reciprocated on a shaft 9, so that the pile warps are formed into loops around fixed hooks 2. A comb 8 having hooked teeth t is arranged beneath the hooks 2. After eight picks of plain weave, a weft 13 is inserted by a needle while the needles 5 are lowered. The needles then rise and the weft is beaten-up by an open-ended reed 3 to bind in the pile threads. As the fabric moves between the hooks 2 and the comb 8, the pile thread loops are severed by oscillating knives 15.
