Abstract
621,628. Pile fabric looms. PICKING, W. T. May 30, 1946, Nos. 16429 and 19836. [Classes 142 (ii) and 142 (iv)] In a loom in which pile warp 14 is looped over wires 11, the beat-up reed 13 is clear of the wires when the slay is in its rear position. During the part of the cycle that the reed 13 is forward of the tips 12 of the wires; the breast beam 21, which carries the wires, is rocked about a shaft 31 so as to lower and raise the tips of the wires, thereby reducing the amount that the pile warp has to be lifted to loop it over them. The looping is effected by shogging a reed 15 bodily, or by flexing its dents, or by moving it vertically (in which case it has bent dents).
