Abstract
700,084. Weft stop-motions; forming selvedges. HINDLE, T. Aug. 29, 1950, No. 22563/49. Classes 142(1) and 142(2) The tension of the weft W rocks a detector pin 1 against a stop 4, thereby pushing a rod 6 to close an electrical switch: if the tension is not t maintained throughout the pick, the switch opens. The pin also prevents the selvedge from being pulled inwards; instead of being outside the fabric, the pin may be amongst the selvedge warp threads. The detector pins (one at each end of the loom) are raised clear of the slay during beat-up and descend in readiness for the next pick. The detector switches are in parallel with a timing switch, which is open for the picking period so that, if neither detector switch is closed at this time, the loom is stopped.
