Abstract

334,626. Morton, J. June 12, 1929. Chenille; pile fabrics.-Fur for use as chenille weft in making chenille fabrics is woven in separate strips C on a smallware loom, each strip comprising pile - forming threads, which are looped over a transverse wire 10, or over longitudinal wires to form pile, and are bound together by short shots of weft individual to the respective strips, and inserted by shuttles or by needle mechanism. The pile may be single or multicoloured and be left in its looped form, or be cut by a knife edge on the pile wire. The pile may be continuous or spaced. In weaving multicoloured fur, the coloured pile threads 1 from bobbins 2 pass through a jacquard-controlled harness 3 for raising selected pile warps 1<a>, which are looped over the transverse pile wire 10, or over the longitudinal wires as in a Brussels or Wilton loom, the ground warps 5 passing from a beam 6 to healds 7. The fur pile is of a substantial height, for example of a height materially greater than the width of the fur.
