Abstract

416,648. Fountain pens. FINBURGH, M. S., 143, Holborn, London. May 8, 1934, No. 13879. [Class 146 (iii).] A fountain pen is provided with an air tube 6 extending from the nib-section 1 through a portion of the barrel, and a collapsable sac 9 is attached to the rear end of the reservoir and is adapted to be deflated by buckling of a spring 15 produced by depression of a knob 11 slidable in the end of the barrel. The barrel is formed in two portions 4, 5, the lower one 4 carrying the nib-section 1. The air-tube extends to near the rear end of the portion 4 and communicates with the atmosphere through an aperture 3a in the feed-bar 3. The rear portion 5 screws on to the end of the portion 3 and encloses the sac 9 secured on a reduced neck on the portion 4, the sac being deflated by means of a presser-bar 18 non-rigidly secured, e.g. by means of bent-over ears, to the spring 15. The knob 11 is normally covered by a cap 20.
