Abstract
487,942. Fountain pens. MENTMORE MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and JOHNSON, W. F. Dec. 28, 1936, No. 35514. [Class 146 (iii)] In a self-filling fountain pen having a collapsable sac mounted at the end of the barrel remote from the nib and, preferably an air-tube extending longitudinally of the barrel as described in Specification 439,182, the closed end of the sac 2 is enclosed in a stiff hollow thimble or ferrule 5 guided in the end of the barrel and serving to facilitate deflation of the sac. The guide is in the form of a metal sleeve 6 serving also for the attachment of a cap 7 covering the thimble. A flange 8 on the thimble prevents detachment; and a spring may be provided to return the thimble to normal position.
