Abstract

In fountain pens of the type in which a self-filling sac 7 is adapted to be collapsed by pneumatic pressure produced by telescoping parts of the pen surrounding the sac, the sac is mounted in an extension 10 of the barrel 1, an airtube 5 opens into the reservoir near the nib-section and into the sac at the end adjacent the reser. voir, and the telescoping member 11 is slidable in the barrel extension without contact with the sac. Communication between the reservoir and sac is established by a channel formed in the wall of the tube 5 or in a plug 3 to which the sac is attached and which may form the connection between the barrel 1 and the extension 10. The member 11 slides with a fairly tight fit in the extension and is guided and prevented from removal by a bush 12 to which a cap 13 on the member is screwed when in the inoperative position.
