Abstract

784,388. Reservoir pens. KOVACS, T. May 15, 1956 [May 25, 1955], No. 15059/56. Class 146(3) A fountain pen.is furnished at the front end with a nipple 13 provided with an axial bore in capillary communication with the reservoir, and with writing and drawing nozzles 26 mountable on the nipple, which have a wider rear bore for mounting the nozzle and a narrow bore extending therefrom to the tip of the nozzle in continuation of the axial nipple bore. The internal diameter of the wide rear bore of the nozzle 26 is considerably larger than the external diameter of the nipple 13, the nipple contacting only with its end face the mounted nozzle with a wide annular space 27 intervening between the nipple and the surface of the rear bore of the nozzle. The nozzle is provided with bores 28 open to atmosphere so that un removing the nozzle no suction is set up in the space 27 which would cause dirtying by ink of the nipple and nozzle. The pen is made up of a casing 1 into which is secured a hollow stem 3 of which the nipple 13 having a screwthreaded neck 12 for reception of the internally screwthreaded nozzle, forms a part. The internal surface of the stem 3 and the external surface of a sleeve 15 form the capillary channel through which ink passes from the reservoir to the nipple. Inside the sleeve 15 a rod 24 is mounted for axial movement. The rod 24 carries a flexible cleaning wire 25 and is mounted in a bush 20 having a grip 21 so that the bush, rod and cleaning wire may be withdrawn axially during a change of nuzzles. For cleaning the tongues 29, 30 of the nozzle 26 the rod 24 and wire 25 are depressed by pressing a plunger 22 which bears on the rod 24 and is mounted for axial movement in the bush 20 against the action of a spring 23. The nozzle 26 serves for drawing lines whilst another nozzle 26<SP>1</SP> is provided with an angularly bent writing tube 34 and serves for stencil writing.
