Abstract

547,825. Fountain pens. PARKER PEN CO. March 11, 1941, No. 3322. Convention date, July 26, 1940. [Class 146 (iii)] For retaining the cap 21, Fig. 2, on a fountain pen, it is provided with an inner cap 22, which, by engaging the tapered barrel of the pen, limits the extent to which the barrel is received within the cap, and also with yielding retaining means, which come into action before the inner cap engages the barrel. The yielding retaining means comprises a metal sleeve 28, Fig. 4, fitted within the outer shell of the cap and formed with inwardly bowed spring fingers 29, which engage a channelled ring 30 secured to the barrel when the cap is fully applied. The inner cap has a notch 27 to permit air circulation and prevent the condensation of moisture. The outer ena of the cap is shouldered to receive the ring 24a of a pocketclip 24, which is held in place by a screwed bushing 23. A decorative tip 25 screws into the bushing. A plug 26, cemented in position, prevents ink from reaching the bushing. Specification 534,657 is referred to.
