Abstract
279,700. Feldman, E. D. March 14, 1927. Pencil holders. - In a magazine pencil holder, a fixed split guiding-member for the lead extends into the lower end of an inner tube rotatable in the outer casing and co-operating with means carried by the guiding-member for projecting or withdrawing the lead. The inner tube 3, which forms the magazine, is rotatably mounted in the casing 1 by means of a ferrule 4, rotation of the inner tube being effected by means of a two-part cap. The part 6 of the cap is secured to the ferrule 4, and the other part 7 screws on to the open end of the inner tube. The lower end of the tube 3 is provided with an internally screw-threaded ferrule 9 engaging pinions 14, 15 carried by a member 12. The pinions 14, 15 are formed with a corrugated or toothed circumferential groove for engaging the lead 16. The member 12 is formed integral with a part 17 forming the bottom of the magazine, and with an upper and a lower leadguide 18, 19 respectively, and is secured in the pointed lower end of the casing by a tip 21. The parts 17, 18, 19 are split and a spring ring 23 tends to contract the split parts and cause the pinions 14, 15, to grip the lead.
