Pencil holders.-In a pencil holder of the type in which the leads are fed automatically to the holding tube from a magazine by way of a funnel-shaped guide, the magazine, guide, and holding tube are formed integral. The holder 1 has a tip 2 secured thereto and encloses a tube 8 formed at the lower end with tapering parts leading to the lead-holding tube 4. The upper end of the tube 8 screws into a tube 10 connected with a rotatable operating-head 13 on the end of the holder, the tube 8 being held against rotation by a projection 1<n> on the barrel engaging a groove in the tube. Rotation of the head in one direction forces the split end of the tube 4 into the conical inner part of the tip 2 and so causes it to grip the lead. In a modification, the conical bore of the tip leads into a cylindrical bore of sufficient size to accommodate the tube 4 so that the amount of projection of the lead can be adjusted by turning the operating head.
