Abstract
702,418. Reservoir pens. KARCHER. H. Oct. 22, 1951, No. 24569/51. Class 146(3) A fountain pen having piston self-filling means and a ball-point pen are arranged at opposite ends of a barrel 1 provided internally with a rotatable tubular portion 4 having an internal thread 5a co-operating with a screwthreaded piston spindle 6a and an internal thread 5b, on an end portion 4b, for the reception of the ball-point pen reservoir 11. The portion 4 is retained against axial displacement - between a shoulder 8 in the barrel 1 and a screwed flange member 9, such that rotation of the portion 4b causes actuation of the spindle 6a and thus a filling-piston 6 thereon. A closure cap 3 is normally screwed on the projecting end of the member 9, but when the ball-point pen is in use the cap 3 is screwed on a short thread 10 on a cap 2 which encloses the nib of the fountain pen, the cap 2 being placed on the cap 3 when the nib is in use.
