Abstract

815,403. Reservoir pens. WAGNER VEBWALTUNGSGESELLSCHAFT, G. Feb. 1, 1957 [Feb. 7, 1956], No. 3547/57. Class 146(3) A reservoir pen comprises an exchangeable ink cartridge 4 formed with a neck 6, the cartridge being inserted into the pen barrel 3 for connection with an ink-feed tube 9 which projects through the front end wall 10 of the cartridge into the interior of the cartridge to form a reserve ink space 11. The neck 6 of the cartridge screws into a recessed plug 2. When it is required to use ink from the reserve space 11, the barrel 3 is unscrewed from the plug 2 and the cartridge 4 is then unscrewed until the rear end face of the tube 9 coincides with the wall 10. This position is indicated when a spring tongue 12 encounters a shoulder 13 on the cartridge. In a modification, (Fig. 2, not shown), the tube has a transverse port which communicates with a recess in the neck of the cartridge and the reserve ink space upon slight rotation of the cartridge. Normally, i.e., when it is not required to draw ink from the reserve ink space, the port is closed by the surrounding wall of the neck. In a further modification, (Fig. 3, not shown), the neck of the cartridge is pushed into the plug and is simply rotated relatively to the plug to place a port in the tube and recess in the neck in communication.
