Abstract

954,301. Reservoir pens. ETABLISSEMENTS CHRISTIAN. July 8, 1960 [Aug. 6, 1959], No. 23988/60. Heading B6P. A fountain pen comprises a barrel 1, a nib section 2 and an intermediate member 3 which connects the barrel to the nib section and which perforates a diaphragm 13 of a plug 12 closing the orifice of an ink cartridge 10 in the barrel, the intermediate member having a tapered male portion 4 which coacts with a tapered female portion formed in the ink cartridge so as to form therewith an ink-tight joint. The tapered portion 4 of the member 3 merges at its outer end into a cylindrical, bevelled portion 5. An ink feed tube 17 for the feed bar and nib passes axially through the member 3 and the space surrounding the tube within the member 3 constitutes an auxiliary ink reservoir, the member 3 being composed of a transparent plastic material in order to enable the level of ink therein to be seen. An abutment member 7 having a conical cavity 8 is mounted in the rear end of the barrel and serves to receive a conical portion 9 of the ink cartridge when the latter is inserted in the barrel after separation of the parts 1, 3. When the parts 1, 3 are reassembled by means of co-operating screwthreaded portions on each, the bevelled end 5 of the member 3 perforates the diaphragm 13 and pushes it back to the position shown.
