Abstract
878,117. Reservoir pens. FAGARD & CIE, A.J. Dec. 24, 1959 [Aug. 27, 1959], . No. 43817/59. Class 146(3). In a fountain pen of the encased nib type comprising a nib-section 3. and a feedbar 12 located within the section, capillary chambers 9 are formed in the inner..wall of the section by moulding each of the chambers having a cross-section in the shape of a trapezium. The section 3 is screwed on to a barrel 1 which contains a, cartridge ink-reservoir 2. The section is moulded from a plastic material and a sealing washer 7 carrying a rigid metal tube 8 is mounted therein to the rear of the chambers 9. The feed bar 12 has a blind axial bore 14 which communicates with the underside of the nib P via a slot 15. A member 16 having a longitudinal groove 17 is secured in and extends rearwards from the blind bore 14 for engagement in the tube 8. The tube 8 has a sharp rear end which pierces a closure 2a of the ink cartridge 2 whereby the feedbar is put in communication with the reservoir. The chambers 9 communicate with each other and with an air passage 18, also moulded in the nib-section 3, at their rear ends by means of a chamber 19. In use the chambers 9 collect any surplus of ink fed to the feedbar. The section 3 is also moulded with a seat 20 for the nib P. French Specifications 994,874 and 996,587 are referred to.
