Abstract

1,126,699. Reservoir pens. PARKER PEN CO. 14 Dec., 1965 [18 Dec., 1964], No. 53074/65. Heading B6P. [Also in Division A4] In a felt nib fountain pen, the felt nib 21 is housed in a tubular holder 24 with a flange 25, which abuts a rearwardly facing shoulder of a bore 17 of the nib collar 18. The feed bar 30 has at its forward end an integrally moulded collar 31 with a face 32 which abuts the rearward face of the felt nib 21, under the action of a spring 35. Capillary means in the feed bar 30 comprises a first channel (45, Fig. 2) extending from the cartridge reservoir 40, which communicates with a pair of parallel channels (48, 49) via an annular weir chamber 51. The forward ends of the channels (48, 49) communicate directly with the rear face of the nib 21. An annular overflow chamber 53 is formed between the cylindrical inner wall of the shell 11 and the outer wall of the tubular plug 38. A longitudinally extending capillary feed slot 57 provides the communication between the annular weir chamber 51 and the annular overflow chamber 53. The air supply means comprises a bore 61 in the nib collar 81, a longitudinal extending passageway 64 on the inside of the feed bar 30, the annular weir chamber 51 and a widened portion (54) of the capillary channel (45) communicating with the reservoir 40. In a modification (Fig. 6) a nib without a tubular holder 24 is slidably fitted into the bore (83) of the nib collar (81). The nib collar has a rearwardly facing annular shoulder (87) which surrounds a rearwardly extending feed bar (88).
