Abstract

990,501. Fountain pens. E. S. PERRY Ltd. March 23, 1964 [June 7, 1963], No. 22761/63. Heading B6P. A fountain pen comprises a nib section 4, Figs. 1 and 2, having fixedly mounted therein an annular flange 6 into the aperture of which is inserted from the front a piercing member 7 outwardly flanged at its forward end, its flange being held against the flange 6 by a shoulder of the nib unit 5 when the latter is screwed into the section 4. The member 7 has a functional fit in the aperture. An ink cartridge 10 is placed in the bowl.1, which is provided with a recess 12 to accommodate a diametral bar 11 on the cartridge, whereby, when the barrel is screwed on to the section 4 the cartridge is rotated and a diaphragm 13 thereof is pierced by the member 7, which is formed with a piercing point 8 or with a plain oblique rear edge.
