Abstract

848,732. Reservoir pens. FABER-CASTELL, R. G., [trading as FABER-CASTELL, A. W. [Firm of]]. May 29, 1958 [June 12, 1957], No. 17242/58. Class 146(3). The writing tip of a ball-point pen is modified so that writing strokes of varying thickness may be produced by the ball. Fig. 2 shows a tip 2 in which a ball 5 is retained in a housing by a beading 11, ink from a reservoir channel 4 being supplied to the ball through channels 3, and one of these channels is extended to the lower end of the tip by an enlarged channel 6, thus permitting more ink to flow to this point and from the socket if the ball is rotating in alignment with the channel 6. In Fig. 5, a groove 7 cut in the lower end of the tip 2 extends into the end of one of the channels 3. The shank 1 of the tip 2 is marked to indicate the position of the additional channel or groove. The groove 7 permits writing in a more downwardly inclined position.
