[Class 146 (iii).] In a fountain pen of the kind which is movable in an outer case by means of a closing cap provided with an internal abutment, the abutment is constructed as a sleeve k which is coaxially arranged in the interior of the closing cap h and surrounds the nib i of the penholder a, the latter being pushed into its outer casing b by abutment of the inner sleeve k on the end of the holder. In the outer case b a short guidesleeve e, which is detachably connected to the holder a by screw means f, g, is longitudinally movable between a front narrowed portion c of the case and an abutment sleeve d rigidly mounted in the rear end of the case. An air space is formed between the holder a and the outer case b in the writing position owing to the wall thickness of the abutment sleeve d and guide-sleeve e, this space insulating the holder from the outer case and from the heat of the hand. The screw connection f, g enables the holder a to be exchanged. The casing b is made of metal and the holder a of hard rubber.
