Abstract

Self-filling reservoir pens combined with pencil holders. -In a combined fountain pen and pencil holder, the fountain pen is provided with a self-filling plunger actuated by a hollow shaft containing the lead-propelling mechanism. The operating-shaft 34 of the plunger 8 of the fountain pen is connected to a head 16 screwing on the barrel closure member 14. A tip 6 is rotatably mounted on the reduced front end of the head 16 by means of a resilient ring 21 engaging complementary grooves in the two parts. A tubular member 26, formed with internal spiral ribs at the rear end, is secured to the tip and serves for the propulsion of the lead-carrier 29 which is provided with a spiral groove for engagement with the ribs on the member 26, and with a lug 32 engaging a longitudinal slot in the shaft 34. The leadcarrier is provided at its front end with a reduced portion having a tapered bore for receiving the lead. A rod 13 is fixed in the plunger 8 so that a lead may be pushed out of the carrier when the latter is retracted. A cap carrying a reserve supply of leads and an eraser is provided.
