Abstract
325,357. Ruxton Multi-Vidor Corporation, (Assignees of Ruxton. W. V. C., and Gahagan, A.). Nov. 10, 1928, [Convention date]. Slide-rules. - A comhined calculating and writing instrument comprises two members bearing logarithmic or other gradations, one of them carrying a writing- implement, and each forming substantially a longitudinal half of the instrument and sliding relatively to the other in edge-to-edge contact. The members 1, 2 are provided with complementary slides 7, 17. The slide 7 has a rear extension 10 to which is secured an element 11 forming a seat for an eraser 14 held in a. sleeve 13 and covered by a cap 15, and the slide 17 is secured to the rear end of a pencil point 27. A bent strip of metal 21 is also secured to the slide 17, and forms an open-ended receptacle for spare leads adapted to be closed by a spring cover 23. Alternatively, the slide 17 may carry a pen point, and, in the case of a fountain pen, the self-filling sac lies in the hollow portion between the members 1, 2. A cursor may be provided.
