Abstract

573,747. Fountain pens. BIRO, L. J. Feb. 22, 1944, No: 3274. [Class 146 (iii)] In a fountain pen having a ball point, the ink reservoir is constituted by a capillary duct. As shown in Fig. 1, a number of capillary tube sections b are arranged longitudinally of the barrel a and are connected by parts 5<1> at the ends so as to form a continuous duct. The open, or air-inlet end 6 of the duct is situated towards the writing-point end of the barrel a. The reservoir is removably mounted in the barrel. In another construction, the ducts may be formed'in the body of the barrel and, in a modification, a cylindrical member has an axial bore or duct and longitudinal grooves on its outer face forming with the barrel additional ducts which are connected at the ends to form the complete reservoir.
