[Class 146 (iii)] In a reservoir pen of the kind in which the writing point 9 is hollow, a narrow lengthwise slot or slots 12 are provided in the wall of the point section which ends in a rounded writing tip 11, and an ink regulator 13 mounted within the section extends to the forward end of the ink reservoir, e.g. a sac 2. Preferably, the tip 11 has a continuous surface, the slot or slots 12 extending partly, but not completely, into the tip 11 which is of iridium, stainless steel or other hard-wearing non-corrodible material. The section 9 has a screwed tubular part 10 engaging the front part 3 of the pen, the part 10 being formed with a depression to engage and hold the regulator member 13. Two series of circumferential grooves 16<1>, 16<2> are formed in the member 13, the outer surface of the grooves 16<2> being conical and situated close to the wall of the section 9 and as near to the tip 11 as practicable. An ink-supply groove 17 extends longitudinally of the member 13 from the reservoir to adjacent the tip 11, and diametrically opposite thereto is a second and shallower but wider air vent groove 18 extending to and communicating with an air space 20 in the section 9, which is provided with air holes 21. In one modification, the section 9 is not stepped to form the screwed part 10, but is held frictionally and abuts at its inner end against a shoulder on the member 3. In a further form, the conical part of the point section 9 is secured by welding to a tubular part which extends into the part 3. Where the point section is screwed into the pen proper, the threads may consist of a series of discontinuous raised parts on the section.
