Abstract
755,239. Reservoir pens. MYERS & SON, Ltd., M. Dec. 1, 1954 [Feb. 3. 1954; March 29, 1954]. Nos. 3188/54 and 9062/54. Class 146(3) In a ball - point pen wherein the writing unit e is retractible within the holder, the holder comprises two interfitting relatively rotatable parts a, b, the end of the ink reservoir fits tightly over a projection n on a plug i slidable within an inner sleeve d, and this sleeve is slidable within an outer sleeve c. The sleeve c fits tightly in the end of the holder part a, and the sleeve d is fixedly secured in the end of the holder part b. A pin m passes through the plug i, a helical slot g in the inner sleeve, and a logitudinal slot f in the outer sleeve, whereby when the part b is rotated relatively to the part a, the plug i and writing unit e are moved axially of the holder. To replace the writing unit e, the holder parts a, b, are separated by pulling them apart, and both the sleeve c and unit e are withdrawn from the part a. The projection n is flattened or grooved to allow air to enter the reservoir, and further air grooves o in the body of the plug i are provided. The ends of the helical groove g are notched to provide a temporary retaining means for the pin m in its extreme positions.
