Abstract
785,253. Reservoir pens. GRUBE. F., [trading as,KAWECO, BADISCHE FULLFEDERFABRIK F. GRUBE]. Oct. 5, 1955 [Oct. 5, 1954], No. 28423/55. Class 146(3) In a ball-point pen of the kind wherein the writing unit is retractable within an outer casing, there are two writing units 1, 2 arranged co-axially in a removable double sleeve 3 so that when the reservoir of one unit is exhausted the other unit can be brought into use by reversing the units. The unit 2 is shorter than the unit 1, and may have the same or a differently coloured ink therein. The sleeve 3 has a transverse wall 4 with conical recesses 5, and lateral holes 6 allow air to reach the reservoir of both units. In use, a cap 8 is fitted over the point of the unit 2, and the usual retracting spring 7 is fitted over the unit 1 to abut the end of the sleeve 3 before the units are inserted in an outer casing (not shown). The point of the unit 1 is moved from the casing into writing position on depression of a push stud. When the unit 1 is empty of ink, the units are removed from the casing, the spring 7 removed and pushed over the unit 2, and the units re-inserted into the casing in the reverse order.
