[Class 120 (i).] In a " pickering " machine used for opening and cleaning waste and like fibrous material a blade or cutter plate g is provided with a pendent plate b<1> forming an extension of the under-casing b and is adjustable relatively to the feed rollers cl, c<2>, c<3> so as to vary the gap A<1> leading to' the trash compartment A by being guided at each end in long curved grooves i<1> in brackets i secured to bars h inside the machine framework. The blade g is adjustable in the grooves i<1> by a hand-lever g<6> acting through members g<3>, g<4>, while the brackets i are movable radially of the cylinder a to set the blade g relatively thereto by means of eccentrics i<4> engaging in slots i3 formed in the brackets i.
