589,583. Decorticating-machines. STEVENS, A. H. (Humbert, L.) March 16, 1945, No. 6674. [Class 120 (i)] The scraper drum of a machine for decorticating leaves of sisal, hemp &c. is provided with supplementary blades mounted on one or both sides of the existing scraper blades, with their scraper edges spaced from those of the existing blades, and secured by bolts, welding or other means. In the form shown, the supplementary blades 1 are bolted to an existing blade 5 and are rebated so as to leave grooves 4 between the three cutting edges. In an alternative form, the supplementary blades may be formed without rebate and spaced from the main blades by washers or distance pieces.
