Abstract
385,400. Loud-speakers. DARWINS, Ltd. and CATHERALL, A. C., Fitzwilliam Works, Templeborough, Sheffield. Nov. 13, 1931, No. 31418. [Class 40 (iv).] A permanent magnet system for moving-coil loud-speakers has the polepieces 20, 22, Figs. 1, 2, or their carriers 21, 23, extending radially from the annular gap 24,their outer ends being joined by one or more magnets 25 disposed in a plane at right-angles to the gap axis, so that the axial length of the system is reduced to the thickness of the two -carriers 21, 23, and a space between them in which is disposed the magnet 25. The magnet 25 may be semicircular, Figs. 3, 4 (not. shown), or circular with the polepiece carriers disposed diametrally , Figs. 5, 6, 10, 11 (not shown). Alternatively, the polepiece carrier 21, Figs, 7, 8, may be integral with the magnet 25, the carrier 23 being mounted on an upstanding projection of the magnet. The carriers may be cranked, Figs. 14, 15, 16, 17 (not shown), or the magnet may be bent so that the carriers may be straight, Figs. 12, 13 (not shown).
