Abstract

402,821. Loud-speakers. JESSOP & SONS, Ltd., W., and GOULD, J. E., Brightside Works, Sheffield. June 10, 1932, Nos. 16380/32 and 6249/33. [Class 40 (iv).] Magnets with annular air gaps, such as are employed in loud - speakers &c., are so formed that the portion or portions of the mean flux path near the neutral point lie in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the air gap. One form of such magnet is shown in Figs. 1 and 3. A rectangular ring 1 forms the body of the magnet and has at one side an inward projection 2 with an upturned end 3 forming the inner pole piece. On the other side of the ring is an upturned projection 4 carrying a plate 5 forming the outer pole-piece. The plate 5 is supported by a bracket 6 of non-magnetic material. Figs. 4 and 5 show a magnet with a body formed of a ring of non-magnetic material with a diametrical bar 2 carrying the inner pole-piece 3. The outer pole-piece is formed by a bar 5 supported on projections 4 on the ring 1. Modifications of this form are described in which the bars 2 and 5 are of arched form and in which they are both integral with the body 1 and the inner pole-piece 3 is separate. Reference has been ducted by the Comptroller to Specification 395,361.
